Search Tips

Keyword Search finds the words or phrases you type in regardless of where they appear in the catalog record. It is especially useful for finding:

How do I find? Try this: Example:
An exact phrase Type the words in the exact order you want them to appear. cat in the hat will find the title "Cat in the Hat".
Words that have different endings Type an * (asterisk) symbol at the end of the letters. myster* will find items with the words "mystery" or "mysteries".
Multiple words Select "and" between words. start and business will find items with both "start" AND "business".
Words with similar meanings Select "or" between words. turtle or tortoise will find items with EITHER "turtle" OR "tortoise".
Topics that don't include certain words Select "and not" between words. cats and not persian will find items about cats that are NOT Persian.
Words that are near each other Select "near" between words. fractal near geometry will find items about "fractal geometry".
Authors, titles and subjects Select one of these from the drop-down menu on the left of the space where you type the words.

t:da vinci code
Will find items with "da vinci code" in the title.

a:clark, mary higgins
Will find the author "Mary Higgins Clark".

s: michigan
Will find items about " Michigan ".
Items of a particular language, type or location Choose from the "Options" menus. You may choose more than one item from each menu by using "Ctrl-click".
